My Thoughts On: A 95 Year Old Graduating College

This is a follow-up to a post I did recently. It turns out that there was a news segment made. I find the idea of being 95 and still pursuing greater things in life really inspiring, so take a look at this news clip:

My Thoughts On: Reading and Flying At The Same Time

Yes, I said "Reading and Flying." What? Do you think I can actually fly like they do on NBC's Heroes?

Yeah, right. I wish.

I'm talking about flying in a plane and how to choose which book to bring to read while you are bored out of your mind during the flight. It's a difficult decision.

So, head over to Literature Life read more about it.

My Thoughts On: FINALLY Paying Off A Car Loan

Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!

Need I say more?

I got my deed in the mail yesterday. I have the actual piece of paper. Amazing. I should frame it. Actually, I have no idea what to do with it. I feel like there should be some special event with balloons and cake to commemorate this event! I mean, it took me longer to pay off my car than it took me to get a college degree!

So, yeah, maybe it should go on the wall next to my diploma. I think it deserves the distinction.

Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!

Ok, now I can officially race for pink slips. :)

My Thoughts On: Space and The Great Beyond

What's REALLY out there up above the sky?

There always sees to be new discoveries about space and the GREAT beyond! It's always exciting and recently I have found some pretty exciting news articles in my internet surfing.

* Scientists find most Earth-like planet yet - So, aliens aren't all that crazy of an idea AFTER all. I knew it!!!!!

* NASA rethinking death in mission to Mars - All I can say is: A real-life mission to Mars?!?!!? Wow. It's really in the works?!?!?! And, some crazy questions. What do you do if someone gets deathly ill? Or if crew members fall into romantic relationships? Wow, there's a lot to think about.

These sort of articles make me excited about the universe. There is just so much out there that we just don't know. So, here's to science and space and seeing if the truth is really out there....

My Thoughts On: Wacky Weddings

For once, I don't have a wedding summer...aka 35 weddings to attend in three months. The last few years seem to have been peppered with people getting married ALL at once....which is fun, but exhausting. So far, they've all been the usual affairs - the church, the white dress, the first dance, etc.

Recently, I saw a news article on msn.com about wacky first dances and that led me on a brief google search of DIFFERENT ideas for weddings. I'll start with that article first:

* Weddings' First Dance Spins Out of Control - One couple did a scene from Michael Jackson's Thriller. Interesting, huh?

* Lord of the Rings Wedding - If you loved this movie....

* Star Trek Wedding - Or this tv show/movie...

* Star Wars Wedding - Or this movie...

* Halloween Wedding Video - Who doesn't love Halloween?

* And, of course VEGAS weddings - The capital of different weddings!

* Famous Vegas Weddings - A glimpse into what celebs actually got married in Vegas!

So, yeah, my search was pretty brief, but it just goes to show - there's more than just the traditional wedding out there.

Ok, back to surfing random internet news.

My Thoughts On: 6 AM Success!

I did it!!!! I woke up at 6 am!!!!

I almost didn't. The call came promptly at 6 from my mother and I almost went right back to sleep, but that inner voice got me - didn't you just say that you were going to get up at 6 am when you went to sleep last night?????

So, I got up, turned on the lights and stayed up. I didn't even go to Starbucks like I thought I might. I stayed home and was still productive.

Miracles do happen.

We'll see what tomorrow brings. That's the REAL test, if I can do it two days in a row.

My Thoughts On: Not Being Able To Wake Up At 6 AM

I am having the hardest time waking up early. I'm still getting calls every morning at 6 am from my mom. She even asks me if I'm awake already and everything. I say "yes" of course and promptly fall back asleep.

How do you manage to actually get up in the morning when you don't REALLY have to go somewhere or do something? This is my dilemma.

If I was meeting a friend or had to be at work, I'd be there. Period. I may be 5 minutes late here and there, but I would never just not show up.

So, how does one change one's mentality from: "I don't HAVE to get up." to "SHIT, I'm late!!!! I need to get to Starbucks and start writing my masterpiece that's going to make me millions of dollars?????"

Hmmm....that's kind of an answer in itself, isn't it?

My friend Caroline had a good inventive idea - pretend I'm meeting one of my characters for coffee...so I have to go. I like ideas like that. I want more. So, if anyone has thoughts, I'm up for anything and everything related to waking up earlier. Hopefully someone/something will be able to motivate me.

I will keep you updated.

My Thoughts On: 2007 in Film Adaptations

Sure, you can spend the day at the beach, reading...but what about cooling off in a movie theater and seeing your favorite book on the silver screen?

There are many, many movies coming out this summer. It's going to be one helluva summer actually. Amidst all those summer blockbusters, are also going to be some fun film adaptations, some of them blockbusters in themselves!

I can't wait!

To see my thoughts and a list of the film adaptations coming soon to a theater near you, read my latest blog on Literature Life by clicking here: Oh, The Excitement Of Books Becoming Movies!

My Thoughts On: Spiders Living in People's Ears

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeew.

And, it really happened. There was an article about it on cnn.com today. I've pasted it at the bottom of this blog. Yuck.

I don't care if I held a Tarantula. I think my mind would explode if that happened to me. It seems like some scary movie premise. I saw Arachnophobia when I was younger and that left me horrified. AND, this is REAL!!!

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeew. Did I say that already? I'm still shuddering.

And, on that note, I'll share the CNN news article that inspired this tintilating blog:

My Thoughts On: The Second Annual 48 Hour Book Challenge

I was surfing book blogs and found yet another exciting project that I would like to be a part of!!!!

I think I must be getting really into these projects. I mean - first there was nanowrimo, and then there's the Reading Challenge, soon there will be Script Frenzy, and now: The Second Annual 48 Hour Book Challenge. Yes, that's me - totally craaaaaaaaazy.

I'm looking into this, and if you like to read, maybe you should too! It's basically reading as many books as you can in a weekend and posting reviews. Maybe I'm a bit of a bookworm, but it sounds like fun to me!!!! And, I have a ton of books yet to read for the Reading Challenge, so maybe this will help me catch up! That's me working on two projects at once! Talk about multitasking!

Check it out:

My Thoughts On: Inspirational News Articles

I find myself drawn toward inspiration lately. I think I need it in my life, so I am seeking it from other places in order to feel it and bring it into my life.

I just read an article about a 95 year old woman who is graduating college. I will post the link at the bottom of this blog.

It's funny, last month, I found an article about a 96 year old man who just published his first novel and now here's a woman, who at 95 is graduating college. It's amazing how much you can still achieve in your life no matter how late you think it might be.

Seriously, though, how inspirational is that? Most people at 95 contemplate their lives as being at an end and here is a woman who is trying to improve herself with an education. Amazing.

I hope to keep that in mind as I progress with my life. I fully realize that at 29 and rapidly approaching 30, I am having a crisis as to what my life SHOULD be like and where I SHOULD be with things like a career, romance, etc. The things these articles are telling me is that success and accomplishment can come at any age and that age is just a number, if you can get it into your mind to believe that you can do something, regardless.

What these people are doing sounds so impossible. I mean, society has a mindset that someone at 95 or 96 can't do these things. Yet, these people are showing us that you can publish a novel at 96 and you can graduate college at 95! Perhaps if we apply that to ourselves, in our every day lives, we'd realize that we can accomplish the things we fear we can't. We just need to believe in it.

I know I need a little of that in my life. So, here's to believing in the "impossible"!
