Mmmmm....musicals!

The fun thing about musicals...is they make you sing along!

These are the top 5 musical numbers that come to my mind, when I think - musical:

From the movie, Annie, Annie singing "Tomorrow."I knew that whole album inside out as a kid. It was my favorite movie.

From the movie, Yankee Doodle Dandy
, James Cagney as George M. Cohen singing "Over There." Fantastic! I saw this movie as a little kid and this song stuck with me. It makes me teary even watching this clip!!!

From the movie, My Fair Lady, Audrey Hepburn singing "I Could Have Danced All Night." I loved that song.

From the movie, Oliver!, the song "I'd Do Anything." I had a tough time deciding on this one. I also wanted to pick - "You've Got To Pick a Pocket or Two."

From the movie, Moulin Rouge, the song "Your Song." I just think Ewan McGreggor's hot, basically.

You Can Do Anything....Even at 88

The movie Young at Heart is about a pretty cool group of senior citizens.

I just read an article on cnn.com that I thought was pretty cute. I'll paste the link below. It's about an 88 year old spitfire waitress. Yes, I said spitfire and so did cnn. I think that's pretty cool. She's doing what she enjoys...at 88! She doesn't have to work, but she chooses to. Just another story that shows, you can do anything you want at any age.

Inspiring Quote For Today

Portland, OR - a serene, beautiful picture with which to ponder a quote.

"I am like that does not help anything. I can be different does." - From the book Ok Words by way of the book Helping Me Help Myself by Beth Lisick (which is a really fun book about a girl who doesn't believe in self help, but decides to get some major self-help from the most well known self help gurus in a year).

Ah, the truth of those words. I know I catch myself saying, but I'm like this and I can't do that. So, yeah, why can't I be different? Right? RIGHT!

Just a thought for you - dare to be different. You can change for the better, if you want to!

TV Tattle

A duck. This picture has nothing to do with this blog. I was trying to be funny.

This is just a random post if you feel like reading about television news. I know I'm addicted. TV is awesome.

NANOWRIMO 2008!

Ah, the fun of reading. Hey, wouldn't it be fun to write a book...in a month?

It's only two weeks until National Novel Writing Month 2008! For those of you, not in the know - it's where you write a 50,000 world novel in November.

It's completely worth doing, whether you have writing aspirations or not. There's just something about a challenge...that makes you feel oh so good after you complete the "impossible." And, it's not impossible, I've finished two other novels. This will be my third. You too can do it! Just start writing! All you have to do is put 50,000 words together on a page. I mean, think how much you text every day and comment on facebook/myspace AND use those words in your novel!

I'm pretty excited this year. My first year, I wrote a Harlequin Romance. Super fun...and the story went totally crazy. My second year, I wrote a Teen Slasher book in the vein of RL Stine's Fear Street series. This year, I'm writing a straight up young adult novel about life in high school, sort of a Sixteen Candles meets Welcome to the Dollhouse. Fun, excitement! And, yes, I'm a bit of a geek, but what are you doing in November? Eating turkey? Write a novel!

Funny video....

And, no, not just because my name is in the credits. Geesh.

I operated the camera. Hahahaha - makes me think of Baby in Dirty Dancing saying, "I carried a watermelon." But seriously, though, that first pan shot - that was me moving the camera. Woo-hoo!

Wow, I've had too much caffeine. Enjoy the short!

Note To Self...

A good day for some tea! Yum...

Actually, I like tea all the time. It's the best. It helps me write. It keeps me awake. It's the best comfort food on the planet. It's tea! But, that's not the point of this blog. The point is, if you like tea, you tend to boil a lot of water. Sometimes you may use a tea kettle on the stove to boil that water....

And, sometimes, you forget to add the water.....

Which means - smoke, fire, mayhem. Just kidding. I didn't let it burn that long...just enough time to singe the bottom of the kettle...black and disgusting.

Time to toss the kettle, right? Nope. Just use enough of the following to cover the bottom of the kettle - 1/2 vinegar and 1/2 water sitting in it for an hour, wipe with a paper towel and it will get rid of the burn on the bottom. Yay! Saved!

Anyway, just so you know, in case I'm not the only one on the planet that's done this and panicked.

Thank you, google! :)

Hilarious "Hollywood" Blog

Here in Hollywood, the UTA list is a super-secret job list that has little known jobs on it for the industry - coveted jobs in fact, for assistants, PA's, etc. Well, actually, everyone gets it or someone you know in Hollywood probably does.

Anyway, someone has decided to poke a little fun at the UTA job list, with their own "fake" UTA listings. Pretty hilarious. And, sadly, probably some truthful descriptions of the jobs out there...pretending to be fake ads.

Take a read:

A Random Blog

Santa Monica Pier Ferris Wheel at Night

The picture above is just a picture I liked and thought I'd post it above. I was there last week, during the week one night. It's peaceful. It's serene.

And, I need to write a blog...even if it ends up being a random one.

Sometimes life gets so busy, things start to fall away. For me, that's been blogging. I'm tired. I work a lot. Blogging requires effort. Sleep is just closing your eyes and zzzzzzz...

It's funny how that works. It's the things you enjoy that fall away, while the things you don't or are required to do that take precedence. Or, maybe that's just me. And, I think it's a real shame.

So, here's to blogging or taking the time in the middle of the week to go to the beach (even at night) or doing whatever you really do like to do. It's worth pushing your responsibilities off for a day or an hour or an evening or what have you. Take your energy and do something you like for once!!!!
